I try to learn English by watching old movies, and “The Equalizer” is one of my favorites. I watch it whenever I feel troubled or stuck in life. The film is about a retired, undefeated agent who doesn’t save the world, but instead helps ordinary people with their problems.

The movie’s title is interesting. To achieve justice, do we really need a superhero figure to act as ‘the equalizer’? Sometimes, we know the right path and that the wrong one only leads to bad outcomes. Yet, we can’t help but desire a superman or a godfather-like figure to dispense justice for us.

It would be nice if the world were that simple. But in the end, we have to be our own heroes.
